A Black Paripa a compelling story of love and loss. The first Chinese film to be made in Mongolian, it debuted at the 1995 Montreal International Film Festival and immediately won international acclaim for its stunning cinematography, natural acting by a cast of mainly local actors and atmospheric melodies. The festival also awarded Xie Fei the Best Director prize and a music prize to Tengger, who plays the lead role and is a musician in real life.
