Wang Yao, film historian, lecturer at the Beijing Film Academy

Wang Yao is a film historian and researcher, and holds a PhD from the Beijing Film Academy, where he was a doctoral student of Xie Fei, advisor and guest of honour at the Image China Film Week. Since 2015, he has been working at the Institute for Chinese Film Culture Research at the Institute. Her unique research area in China is Eastern European film history, with a special focus on Romanian and Hungarian cinema, and she also focuses on Hungarian filmmakers in her courses. He is also a curator and advisor to several Chinese international film festivals, such as the Beijing International Film Festival and the Hainan International Film Festival, and regularly publishes in the most respected Chinese film journals on film festivals, film theory and film history.

At the Imagery Chinese Film Week The successor Wang Yao will take to the stage after the film to discuss the secret behind the comedy's success in China and the relevance of the extraordinary story for Chinese society today.
