Zeng Nianping is an acclaimed Chinese cinematographer and one of the leading figures in contemporary Chinese cinema. His career is closely linked to the Beijing Film Academy, where he has taught since 1978, while continuing his own studies. It was there that he met his future co-creator and wife, film director Li Shaohong, and their artistic and personal relationship has remained inseparable ever since.

Their collaborations include what is being hailed as China's first thriller Silver snake case (1987), the internationally acclaimed Bloody dawn (1990), and the Powder (1994), which was awarded the Berlin International Film Festival's Silver Bear Award. Since then, he has continued to work and is credited as the lead cinematographer on several prestigious films and series.

His works are published in the lyrical visual world, a compositional awareness and the psychological depth make it special. His cinematography is perfectly suited to Li Shaohong's sensitive stories told from a female perspective.

The festival will feature Powder After the screening of the film, Zeng Nianping will participate in a panel discussion with the director and the author of the novel on which the film is based, where the audience will be able to get an insight into the making of the film.
