The film takes the audience to the dolce district of Beijing in the 1920s, where we learn about the everyday life and people through the eyes of a little girl. A Beijing story (My Memories of Old Beijing) Wu Yigong's (1938-2019) first independent film is an adaptation of Lin Haiyin's novel of the same name. A pioneer in cinematography at the time, the film remains a favourite among Chinese film fans to this day.
